Cairo, October 27, 2009 –In a first-of-its-kind race in Egypt and the Middle East, the Breast Cancer Foundation of Egypt (BCFE) and the Susan G. Komen Organization have organized a race promoting breast cancer awareness in the Pyramids area, sponsored by Palm Hills Developments (PHD), the pioneer real-estate developer.
The race aims to raise awareness of breast cancer risks and means of protection, as well as stressing the importance of early discovery and methods of treatment. It also celebrates women who have recovered from a disease that has become a threat to over 300,000 women worldwide.
“Our sponsorship of this race is part of PHD’s belief in the importance of the promotion of civil society promotion. We participated in the race knowing that it is important to spread awareness of breast cancer and how to fight it in Egypt. The event contributes to education and awareness of the Egyptian woman about the risks of this disease through educational health courses, forums and other activities,” said Sherif Seif el Nasr, Senior Vice President of Marketing & Sales in PHD.
Race proceedings included raising donations for BCFE, and thousands of volunteers of different categories representing the public and private sectors participated in the race. |
